Pat Benatar's first three albums, "In The Heat Of The Night", "Crimes Of Passion" and "Precious Time", shared a combined 270 weeks on the Billboard charts and each album was a major seller. Come "Get Nervous", a bit had changed since the previous years "Precious Time", most notably Pat married her guitar man and songwriter Neil Geraldo, and also she wanted to tone her image down a little bit. While "Get Nervous" still rocks, it is more synth-heavy than the hard rock predecessors.
The album hit stores in late 1982, and "Shadows Of The Night" was the leadoff single and quickly became a classic for Benatar. Further hit singles came in the form of "Little Too Late", "Anxiety (Get Nervous)" and "Looking For A Stranger".
The album shows a toned-down Pat, but she still is in fighting mode. She still wants you to "Fight It Out". Many of these songs are about sour relationships, telling her man that "I Want Out" of the relationship, and also "Tell It To Her", Pat realizes she's been a mistress and feels guilt and puts the man in his place.
"Silent Partner" is one of my fave songs off the album, definately production-wise the highlight.
This is the last "great" Pat Benatar album, while future albums like "Tropico", "Seven The Hard Way", "Gravity's Rainbow", and "Innamorata" have a lot of great songs, there's also a lot that is forgettable.
The tour that promoted "Get Nervous" was recorded on video/DVD ("Live In New Haven") as well as released as an official live album in 1983, "Live From Earth".
