But I doubt I ever would have liked this group, even if I did grow up in the 70s! Boston exagerates the power ballad to the point of caricature. This band goes WAY, WAY, WAY too far in its attempt sound sentimental. They are WWWAAAAAAAAAYYY over the top when it comes to that style of music. Its as if Tom Scholz sat down in his recording studio and said to himself "I want to produce the sappiest ballads in the history of the Universe!" Before I heard "Amanda" on classic rock radio a couple of years ago, I thought the sappiest that music could get was all those cheesy boy bands from the 90s. But Brad Delp's lovesick wailing on "Amanda" would put all the boybands in the world to shame. If I were that Amanda girl, I'd run screaming in the other direction if Brad Delp started wailing at me like that! No offense to you Boston loving baby boomers, but listening to Boston is worse than swallowing pure maple syrup. That sugary sweetness makes me feel awful just thinking about it! Boston $ucks! These sugary air filled concoctions are anything but rock n roll. Definately a band I don't miss a bit!
