Great pop rock - a must-have for genre fans! / 5
This album has a TON of fun and interesting songs which already makes it a worthwhile purchase. In fact, I would argue that every song on this album is either a great or very good pop rock song. In the veign of R.E.M., The Ocean Blue deliver quality songs that are both entertaining and interesting to listen to. Singer David Schelzel has a very dreamy vocal style (as well as a distinctively 80's sound - funny sidenote: the singer has an English accent but the band's actually from the United States) and the lyrics are pretty good - they aren't great but they're mostly pretty poetic. Musically it's very tight as every song is crafted around a great hook and mostly interesting lyrics. If you're a fan of R.E.M.'s jangle pop style, or really even just a fan of pop rock, you'd be hardpressed not to like this CD. HIGHLY recommended.
