I started reading these reviews expecting to find other Moz fans raving about what a great record this is. Imagine my surprise to find most people thoroughly trashing it!
"Your Arsenal" is excellent as is "Vauxhall and I". "Bona Drag" is also awesome, but.. I have to say.. "Kill Uncle" is the disc of his that I find myself returning to.
Yeah it's got some clunkers, but the good tracks here are outstanding. They have a laid-back style with songwriting and musicianship that perfectly complements Moz's one of a kind voice and wry wit.
Our Frank, Sing Your Life, King Leer, Driving Your Girlfriend Home, The Harsh Truth of the Camera Eye
Song "Irish Blood, English Heart"
Irish blood, English heart
this I'm made of
there is no one on earth
I'm afraid of
and no regime
can buy or sell me
I've been dreaming of a time when
to be English
is not to be baneful
to be standing by the flag not feeling
shameful, racist or partial
Irish blood, English heart
this I'm made of
there is no one on earth
I'm afraid of
and I will die
with both my hands untied
I've been dreaming of a time when
the English are sick to death of Labour
and Tories
and spit upon the name Oliver Cromwell
and denounce this royal line that still
salute him / and will salute him forever
