As it's called, Simplified presents some of Simply Red's biggest hits in a simplified, stripped down manner: with some simple sax / piano / violin and some jazzed up vocals / backing vocals.
My favourite tracks on this album are "For Your Babies" and "Your Mirror" - not surprising as not only are these two songs taken from my favourite Simply Red album, Stars, but also because they're so basic, with just the piano and Mick Hucknall's soulful voice.
Some other stand-out tracks are "Fairground", "Something's Got Me Started" (which has a very interesting Latin sound to it!) and "Holding Back The Years". Not forgetting there is a new track on here called "Perfect Love", presented in two versions. My biggest complaint is why wasn't "Stars" included here? I would have simply loved listening to a simplified version of "Stars"!
For a soundtrack to long drives in the country to lounging on the sofa with a wine glass in hand, this is a great album to unwind to. Buy it!
