Power pop at its finest!!! / 5
The first two CDs by this band only hinted at what was to come. This recording is power pop at its finest. All of the influences can be heard but the band's music stands on its own. Many of the songs recall solo George Harrison with the use of his slide guitar style but hints of The Beatles, Badfinger, and XTC are everywhere on the recording. All of the songs are great but "The Wonder of It All", "Flying Cars (1959)", "Before It's Over", "Empty Pages" (a tribute to John Lennon), and especially "The Center of the Universe" grabbed my attention. "The Center of the Universe" sounds like an outtake from The Beatles "Revolver" or "Abbey Road" recordings. Get it and do your ears a favor.
