Worthwhile for "Arabian Knights" / 5
Despite being a completist where anything Siouxsie is concerned, I was hesitant about buying this, since I already had the CDs and most of the videos (on the Once Upon a Time and Twice Upon a Time VHS compilations).
I finally had to get it when I heard that "Arabian Knights" was the rarely seen original version, before it was re-edited for the official video. It's horribly/wonderfully kitsch, and I can see why the band kept it buried for two decades, but I'm glad to have it. Grab it now, it probably won't be on subsequent DVD releases.
The videos look and sound great after years of watching worn-out tapes. The CDs are unnecessary, and the "best of" title on a lazy selection of singles is still infuriating, but it's a nice little package for collectors.
Song "Bring Me the Head of the Preacher Man"
following desire in your eyes
you're mine you're mine all mine
following the signs ... in your mind
you're mine, you're mine, all mine
bring me the head of the preacher
man in the sickening daze ...
o the rotting sun washes down
the moonshine boys
the vultures drool
... they pluck the gold dust from his eyes
and pick his bones until they're clean
the book of sorrows -- the american dreams
bring me the head of the preacher man
on the blazing trail
heaven holds lonestar promise el dorado --
the insane theatre, once more we rise
to drain the last of liquid sleep
the gift of chance
eating the worm ... as the v{por drops and dances
and everything stops and dances
bring me the head of the preacher man
we tumble down these lonely days
we tumble down

A scandal with layers (Vail Daily)
More dramas nowadays are incorporating scenes of characters sitting pensively on the toilet or throwing up when they're overwhelmed with emotion. The discomforting subject matter doesn't end there in "Notes on a Scandal."
Talk back: What are your favorite cover songs? (USA Today)
I've been coming across a lot of cover songs lately, whether it's been on new CDs, websites or lists such as this one of really terrible covers. While there are certain tracks I could do without ever hearing again, such...
One totally godhead celebration to honor Rodney on the Roq (Daily Bulletin)
Hollywood is the place where "it's all happening" on Friday. Legendary radio personality Rodney on the Roq (known for the famous catchphrase above, among others) gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 11:30 a.m. in front of the Knitting Factory (7021 Hollywood Blvd.).
