This is everything Jim Morrison recorded with the Doors in the studio. The Doors was the only band Morrison ever was a part of and starting with the first release, every single LP they did was certified gold or platinum and was a huge success. There were no misses, no flops - just amazing LP after amazing LP. Each album has its own set of great songs and timeless masterpieces. Some of the hippie/mystic/shaman philosophy may have aged but it's amazing how well this music holds up 35 years after Morrison's death. There is a timeless quality about much of what the Doors did and it always sound good.
Morrison may have been weird but time has proven his genius. They never tried to sound like anyone else and they always took huge chances and gambles. The 3 musicians backing Morrison are all excellent musicians and I'm sure coming up with music that fit some of these lyrics must have been a challenge. Song after song and album after album, you are hearing brilliance here.
The Doors are known for their many big hits like "Light My Fire", "Roadhouse Blues" "Touch Me", etc but get into the albums and you'll find gem after gem like "Crystal Ship" "Take it as it Comes" "Love Street" "Wintertime Love" "Indian Summer" "Waiting for the Sun" "Hyacith House" and so many more. The Doors are absolutely one of the best and most important rock bands ever and they always will be.
One last thing: Classic rock radio has overplayed many songs and taken the enjoyemnt out of them but no matter how many times I hear Doors classics like "Riders On The Storm"(my all time #1) or "Light My Fire", they always sound great. Besides creating so many timeless songs, somehow they made songs that just don't sound bad no matter how many times they're played and overplayed.
That's genius.
Song "The Spy"
I'm a spy in the house of love.
I know the dream, that you're dreamin' of.
I know the word that you long to hear.
I know your deepest, secret fear.
I'm a spy in the house of love.
I know the dream, that you're dreamin' of.
I know the word that you long to hear.
I know your deepest, secret fear.
I know everything. Everything you do. Everywhere you go. Everyone you know.
I'm a spy in the house of love.
I know the dream, that you're dreamin' of.
I know the word that you long to hear.
I know your deepest, secret fear.
I know your deepest, secret fear.
I know your deepest, secret fear. I'm a spy, I can see What you do. And I know.
