A lesser known pop rock classic! Most people will LOVE THIS! / 5
Whatever you might be thinking of FOW's hit "Stacy's Mom", be prepared for a surprise when you hear this CD! Every track on this album is pop rock gold. Every song is laced with very catchy hooks and (mostly) interesting lyrics, and they're always funny and quotable (they have a GREAT sense of humor). This is one of the few albums I can come back and listen to at any time without getting tired of it. Sonically it does sounds very 90's-ish, but it's definitely not dated. Songs like "Radiation Vibe" and "Barbara H.", for example, are lesser pop rock classics, but really the entire album is simply amazing (it's similar to how good Marshall Crenshaw's solo is). Chris Collingwood also does an excellent job capturing the heart of the lyrics with his slightly nerdy vocals. Any self-respecting collector and/or music fan NEEDS this CD! Absolutely recommended!

Highlights include:
"Radiation Vibe"
"Joe Rey"
"She's Got A Problem"
"Barbara H."
"Leave The Biker"
the rest are awesome, too

Song "Fire Island"

Driving on the lawn
Sleeping on the roof
Drinking all the alcohol
All the kids from school
Will be naked in the pool
While our parents are on Fire Island

Cranking up the tunes
'Til the windows break
Feeding chocolate to the dog
Jumping on the couch
'Til the feathers all come out
While our parents are on Fire Island

We're old enough by now
To take care of each other
We don't need no babysitter
We don't need no father or mother
We're old enough by now
Don't worry 'bout a thing
Don't you remember
Last December
When you went to Steamboat Springs?

Driving on the lawn
Sleeping on the roof
Drinking all the alcohol
All the kids from school
Will be naked in the pool
While our parents are on Fire Island

Few bands inspire such intense hatred as Nickelback. The post-grunge Canadian quartet has been trashed, bashed and hated on by countless critics, music snobs and other like-minded souls. So have much-maligned acts like Hinder, a rock band from Oklahoma; the Grammy-winning Black Eyed Peas, who have spawned infectious rap hits "My Humps" and "Don't Phunk With My Heart"; and Britney ...

Respect your youngsters: Alt-rockers Modest Mouse will release their fifth album Tuesday with a ringer of a new member -- ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. Fifty-one-year-old Clash veteran Paul Simonon, too, has found a young employer in Blur/Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn, impresario of the new Brit-rock outfit the Good, the Bad & the Queen.

The Fratellis took their brothers-in-music identities from The Ramones. They named their debut album "Costello Music" (Cherry Tree/Interscope) after that angry-young-Brit, Elvis Costello. And there's a bit of nearly every Britpop band from the Beatles to the Arctic Monkeys tucked into the band's songs.
Music Review: Fountains of Wayne - Traffic and Weather (Blogcritics.org)
The forthcoming release (April 3rd via Virgin Records) Traffic and Weather from L.A. art-rockers Fountains of Wayne may not be ?the dawning of the age of Aquarius? but it might just qualify as the second coming of ?new wave.? That's because on their new album, their first proper release since 2003?s Welcome Interstate Managers, strikes a perfect balance of pop rock bliss and nerdy ...
